Sapiom Secures $15 Million to Empower AI Agents with Autonomous Tech Purchases

Sapiom has raised $15 million to enable AI agents to autonomously purchase technology, simplifying transactions and enhancing user experience in the digital landscape.

Sapiom, a startup aimed at transforming how AI agents acquire technology, has successfully raised $15 million in seed funding. This innovative company, founded by Ilan Zerbib, seeks to streamline the purchasing process for AI systems, allowing them to buy software and services independently.

With the rise of vibe coding, individuals lacking programming skills are now able to create custom applications. However, while these tools enable the creation of prototypes, transitioning them to full-scale applications often presents challenges, particularly in connecting to external services.

Zerbib, who previously led engineering for payments at Shopify, is addressing these issues by developing a financial layer that facilitates secure transactions for AI agents. This system is designed to allow AI to make purchases automatically, eliminating the need for human intervention.

"In the future, applications will require payment systems to access various services," stated Amit Kumar, a partner at Accel, which is leading the investment round. He emphasized that Sapiom's focus on enterprise solutions is crucial for the evolution of AI agents.

Every time an AI agent interacts with an external service, such as sending a text message, it necessitates a payment. Sapiom aims to simplify this by allowing AI to autonomously determine what services to procure.

As Sapiom develops its infrastructure, it hopes to collaborate with vibe-coding companies and other innovators in the AI space. This could revolutionize how users interact with applications, making it unnecessary for them to manage complex backend processes.

The long-term vision includes empowering personal AI agents to handle consumer transactions, such as booking rides or making purchases, thereby enhancing user experience and trust in AI technology.
