AI-powered note-taking devices have rapidly expanded beyond phones and laptops, moving into compact wearables such as pins, pendants, earbuds, and rings. Among the latest ideas in this space is Stream, the private voice ring developed by Sandbar.
The startup has raised $36 million so far, including a $23 million Series A round backed by Adjacent and Kindred Ventures. Its approach reflects a growing belief that the next generation of wearables may be built around quick voice capture rather than screens or keyboards.
Sandbar co-founder and CEO Mina Fahmi says earlier voice hardware products often struggled because they did not give users enough control. With Stream, the company is focusing on a more human-centered design, aiming to make voice input feel natural, private, and useful for capturing ideas in the moment.
As AI wearables continue to evolve, the competition is increasingly centered on convenience, discretion, and seamless interaction. Sandbar's bet is that voice will become the most intuitive interface for everyday intelligence tools. That shift could help define the next phase of personal technology.
