Indian luxury label Sabyasachi is joining forces with The Metropolitan Museum of Art on a new jewelry line set to debut on September 15 during New York Fashion Week. The project opens a multiyear collaboration rooted in the museum's rich collection.
The first chapter draws inspiration from Byzantine art and material culture, translating imperial medallions, architectural details and sculptural forms into high jewelry. According to designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, the partnership reflects a renewed focus on craftsmanship, originality and cultural depth in modern luxury.
The launch also marks the brand's return to New York after nearly two decades, highlighting how global fashion is increasingly shaped by discovery, heritage and distinctive design languages. Future releases are expected to expand beyond jewelry into accessories and clothing, building a broader creative dialogue between fashion and museum archives.
As luxury evolves, collaborations like this may help set a future where artistry, provenance and craftsmanship define value as strongly as materials themselves.
