Artist Ruby Silvious ingeniously breathes new life into used teabags, crafting stunning mixed-media collages and tiny paintings. Through a meticulous process of joining, staining, and sculpting, she transforms these humble materials into captivating pieces of art. Silvious often enhances her creations with additional elements, including sardine tins, thread spools, and cut paper, creating a rich tapestry of textures and forms.

The teabags are carefully emptied and flattened, sometimes combined to create extended surfaces while retaining their strings and tabs. In her innovative approach, she also manipulates the delicate paper to fashion life-size garments, which exude an ethereal and almost spectral quality. Each piece tells a unique story, inviting viewers to explore the beauty in everyday objects.

This spring, Silvious's artwork will be showcased in various group exhibitions across the United States, including locations in Vermont, Maryland, Philadelphia, Massachusetts, and New York. Additionally, she is set to collaborate with Málaga-based artist David Seaton, whose abstract paintings have inspired some of her recent paper creations. Their joint exhibition will take place in Rhonda, Spain, later this summer. In the fall, her works will also feature in a group exhibition at the Gallery of Hermosa.
