Ring has introduced its innovative "Search Party" feature, designed to assist in locating lost dogs, to all users in the United States. This advanced tool, which utilizes the company's extensive network of cameras, is now accessible even to those who do not own a Ring camera.
Initially launched last fall, the Search Party employs artificial intelligence to analyze footage from neighborhood cameras to identify potential sightings of lost pets.
When a dog is reported missing in the Ring app, nearby outdoor cameras automatically scan for possible matches. If a match is detected, the camera owner receives a notification and has the option to share relevant video clips with the pet's owner. They can also reach out via phone or message without revealing their personal contact information.
Since its inception, Search Party has reportedly reunited more than one dog daily with their owners.
Previously, this feature was exclusive to Ring camera owners, but now it is available to anyone through the Ring app, allowing greater community involvement in finding lost pets.
"This empowers pet owners to rally their community, enhancing the chances of finding lost pets more efficiently," stated Ring founder Jamie Siminoff. He emphasized the importance of making this feature available to everyone who posts about a missing dog in the Neighbors app.
In conjunction with this rollout, Ring has pledged $1 million to install camera systems in animal shelters, aiming to support 4,000 shelters across the U.S. By integrating these shelters into its network, Ring hopes to facilitate more reunions between lost dogs and their families.
The company is also collaborating with various non-profits, such as Petco Love and Best Friends Animal Society, and remains open to further partnerships.
