Replit co-founder and CEO Amjad Masad says artificial intelligence is changing how companies work. His vision of a "self-driving company" is one where AI agents take on many routine tasks while people concentrate on judgment, creativity and deciding what to build.
At Replit, AI agents can review incoming support requests, gather context from the codebase and related work items, and help staff assess what needs to happen next. If a fix is needed, an employee can then use an agent to help prepare and deploy a patch.
Masad describes this as a workflow where agents handle much of the operational work, but human decisions remain central. He expects teams to spend more time on architecture, planning and problem-solving rather than repetitive tasks.
In conversations with other businesses, he says, the focus is often on using AI to make work more productive and give employees more opportunity to do engaging, creative work. In this model, AI changes the nature of people's tasks rather than simply removing the human role.
If this approach expands, the future workplace may pair automated execution with human direction, leaving people more time to shape ideas and make consequential decisions.
