AI-powered browsers are entering a new phase, and Polar is positioning itself at the center of that shift. The startup has secured a $5.7 million seed round led by Madrona to develop an AI-first browser designed for professionals who rely on digital workflows.
Founded by Kevin Jiang, who previously worked on Perplexity's Comet, Polar is moving away from the consumer-focused promise of AI browsers and toward practical automation for everyday work. Jiang says the strongest use case is not casual browsing, but helping people manage tasks across the open web.
The browser lets users save prompts, organize workflows, and assign actions to agents based on active tabs. Polar says it can support non-technical users in areas such as sales, recruiting, marketing, research, and business operations.
The product is free to start, with limited daily AI credits. Users who need more capacity can choose paid plans beginning at $20 per month. Polar says many early users already rely on it as a task automation tool while keeping another browser for regular browsing.
Investors in the round include several well-known figures from the technology ecosystem, reflecting growing confidence in browser-based automation. As AI tools become more integrated into work routines, browsers may evolve from simple gateways to active productivity platforms. That shift could redefine how knowledge work is organized in the years ahead.
