Pinwheel has introduced Pinwheel Home, a retro-inspired phone designed for children ages 5 to 10 who are not yet ready for a smartphone. The device revives the familiar landline format while focusing on simple, voice-only communication.
Built to reduce digital distractions, the phone supports calls only, helping children practice basic phone habits and stay in touch with family and friends without social media or messaging features. It connects through Wi‑Fi, so no traditional phone jack is needed.
The lineup includes two versions: Spark, priced at $68 and available in white, black, blue and purple, and Classic, priced at $79 with a retro handset, customizable stickers and color options in pink, black and white.
Parents manage the experience through Pinwheel's Caregiver Portal, where they can approve contacts, block unknown numbers, set calling windows and limit usage time. The device also includes speed dial and voicemail.
Pinwheel says future updates will add three-way calling and deeper integration with its watches and smartphones, allowing families to keep one number across devices while maintaining a screen-light routine at home. The product is available now on Pinwheel's website and is expected to reach Amazon later this year.
This launch reflects a growing interest in communication tools that blend nostalgia, safety and modern connectivity, pointing toward a more balanced future for family tech.
