British photographer Peter Marlow is being celebrated with a renewed look at The English Cathedral, a long-form project shaped around the quiet grandeur of Anglican cathedrals across England. Known for his documentary eye, Marlow brought the same precision to architecture that he once applied to people and places.
The series spans 42 cathedrals and reflects a deliberate approach: Marlow visited each site in natural daylight, echoing the way these spaces were experienced for centuries before electric lighting. His images draw attention to soaring naves, carved wooden ceilings, Gothic arches, altars, and the subtle geometry that defines each interior.
The exhibition opens on July 21 and runs through August 31 at Southwark Cathedral, a landmark with roots reaching back to the 11th century and recognized today as London's oldest Gothic church.
