Palantir CEO Alex Karp Frames AI Market as a Battle for Enterprise Control

Palantir CEO Alex Karp used the company's latest quarterly update to argue that many frontier AI labs are not built with enterprise trust in mind. In his view, the real issue is not only model performance, but who controls the data, workflows and business value created by AI.

In a letter to shareholders, Karp said the company sees "Marxist" undertones in parts of the AI ecosystem, suggesting that some model makers may be trying to absorb the knowledge and operations of their corporate partners. He expanded on that idea during Palantir's earnings call, where he described a future in which organizations could lose control over their own intellectual capital.

The comments came as Palantir posted a standout quarter. The company reported $1.9 billion in revenue, a 93% increase from the same period a year earlier, alongside $1.1 billion in profit. Karp said the result showed how quickly demand for AI-driven analytics is accelerating across government and enterprise customers.

Palantir positions its platform as model-agnostic, allowing organizations to use AI while keeping control over their data, prompts, orchestration and context. That approach reflects a broader industry conversation: as AI tools spread into design, healthcare, law and drug discovery, companies are increasingly focused on ownership, customization and strategic independence.

Beyond the provocative language, the message is clear: the next phase of AI will likely be defined not just by intelligence, but by trust, governance and operational control. That shift could shape how businesses adopt AI in the years ahead.
