Ryan Beiermeister, formerly OpenAI's vice president of product policy, was reportedly dismissed in January following claims of sex discrimination from a male colleague, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Beiermeister firmly denied the allegations, stating to the Journal, "The accusation that I discriminated against anyone is absolutely false." Efforts by TechCrunch to obtain comments from OpenAI and Beiermeister remained unanswered at the time of publication.

As detailed in the Journal's report, Beiermeister's departure occurred after she voiced concerns regarding a controversial ChatGPT feature known as "adult mode." This feature aims to integrate adult content into the chatbot experience. OpenAI's CEO of Applications, Fidji Simo, indicated that this feature is set to launch in the first quarter of the year.

Beiermeister and several colleagues expressed worries about the potential impact of the "adult" feature on various users, as highlighted in the report.

OpenAI commented that Beiermeister, who had been on a leave of absence prior to her termination, had "made valuable contributions during her time at OpenAI, and her departure was not related to any issue she raised while working at the company."

According to her professional background, Beiermeister previously spent four years on Meta's product team and over seven years at Palantir.
