OpenAI has broadened access to ChatGPT Health, making the feature available to all U.S. users aged 18 and over across free and paid plans. The rollout follows months of testing for health-focused queries inside ChatGPT.
The tool was first explored through a dedicated health hub, where users could connect information from services such as Apple Health, Function, MyFitnessPal, Epic, Oracle Health, and One Medical. OpenAI says the new approach lets people use connected health data more naturally during everyday conversations, including questions about food, allergies, and wellness routines.
According to the company, health-related usage has grown sharply, rising from 230 million to 300 million queries per week. OpenAI also says its latest smaller model, GPT-5.6-Luna, performs better than GPT-5.5 on HealthBench, an open-source benchmark designed to evaluate AI systems on health questions.
OpenAI emphasizes that user data is not used to train its models and says it works with physicians to improve responses. At the same time, the company continues to state that ChatGPT is not intended to diagnose or treat medical conditions, and it encourages users to verify information with qualified professionals.
The expansion places ChatGPT Health among a growing wave of AI-powered wellness tools, as major tech companies explore more personalized digital health experiences. In the future, this kind of integration could help make everyday health information more accessible while keeping expert guidance central.
