Nothing Set to Launch Smart Glasses and AI-Enhanced Earbuds

London-based hardware innovator Nothing is gearing up to unveil a new pair of smart glasses next year, as reported by Bloomberg, citing unnamed sources. These cutting-edge glasses are expected to incorporate cameras, microphones, and speakers, seamlessly connecting to smartphones and the cloud to facilitate AI-driven queries.

Initially hesitant about smart glasses, CEO and co-founder Carl Pei has since embraced a multi-device strategy, aiming to broaden the company's offerings beyond its current smartphone and audio product lines. Alongside the smart glasses, Nothing is also planning to introduce a new set of earbuds featuring AI capabilities within this year.

Last year, Pei hinted at the launch of the company's first AI device in 2026, although he did not disclose specific details about the product. If these plans materialize, Nothing will enter a competitive market alongside established players such as Meta, Even Realities, and Rokid, all of which have ventured into smart glasses. Meta has already released multiple iterations of its smart glasses, and Apple is rumored to unveil its own version next year, while Google is collaborating with Samsung on a smart glasses project slated for this year.

Nothing reached unicorn status last year after successfully raising $200 million in a Series C funding round, achieving a valuation of $1.3 billion. The company has garnered attention among tech enthusiasts for its distinctive design, characterized by transparent elements, although it still holds a minor share of the smartphone market, which is dominated by giants like Apple and Samsung.

Pei has emphasized the necessity for Nothing to innovate in both hardware and software, leveraging AI to differentiate itself in a crowded landscape. Last year, the company launched a tool that allows users to create mini-apps using AI prompts, showcasing its commitment to integrating advanced technology into its products.
