The Norwegian government has raised alarms regarding the infiltration of various organizations by the hacking group known as Salt Typhoon, which is believed to be backed by China.

According to a report released by the Norwegian Police Security Service, this group has been exploiting weaknesses in network devices to carry out espionage activities.

Norway joins a growing list of nations reporting similar breaches associated with Salt Typhoon.

Described by high-ranking U.S. national security officials as a significant threat, Salt Typhoon has been stealthily compromising the networks of vital infrastructure entities globally, including telecom providers in both Canada and the United States, where it allegedly intercepted communications of key political figures. This wave of cyber intrusions has prompted telecommunications companies to enhance their security measures.

The report offered limited specifics regarding the ongoing hacking endeavors targeting Norway. A representative from Norway's embassy in the U.S. has yet to provide a comment on the situation.
