The excitement is building as the 2026 edition of North America's 50 Best Restaurants will be unveiled this evening during a live awards ceremony in New Orleans. Esteemed chefs from across the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean are set to gather for this prestigious event, organized by the World's 50 Best Restaurants, which also curates similar lists for regions including Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East and North Africa.
In the inaugural edition last year, Atomix in New York claimed the top spot, followed by Mon Lapin in Montreal and Restaurant Pearl Morissette in Jordan Station, Canada. The highest-ranking Caribbean establishment was Buzo Osteria Italiana in Barbados, which secured the 41st position.
This year's list is anticipated to maintain some familiar names at the top, as the rules allow previous winners to repeat their success. However, there may also be surprising shifts. Notably, Kabawa, recognized as one of Eater's Best New Restaurants in 2025, was absent from last year's list despite numerous accolades. Early indicators suggest it could make a significant impact this time around.
Furthermore, last year, all five North American restaurants that appeared on the World's 50 Best list were also featured in the regional list. However, this year's announcement will precede the global reveal, which is scheduled for November in Abu Dhabi, adding an intriguing twist to the rankings.
Stay tuned for updates as the winners are announced throughout the evening.
