Netflix has secured a major new licensing agreement that will bring The Walking Dead Universe to viewers across more markets, in a move that strengthens the platform's catalog of long-running franchise content.
AMC Global Media said the multi-year deal gives Netflix co-exclusive streaming rights to the original series and all six spin-offs, covering a total of 371 episodes across the full franchise. The agreement extends availability beyond the United States to territories including the U.K., Italy, Australia, and New Zealand.
The arrangement marks a shift from Netflix's long-running exclusive U.S. role, as the new model will be shared with AMC+. Starting in 2027, subscribers worldwide will also gain access to the wider spin-off lineup, including Fear the Walking Dead, World Beyond, Tales of the Walking Dead, Dead City, Daryl Dixon, and The Ones Who Live.
The deal arrives as studios continue to prioritize recognizable franchises with deep episode libraries, a format that supports sustained viewing and broad audience engagement. For AMC Networks, the agreement also adds momentum to its financial outlook as it updates its forward guidance.
With one of television's most established universes entering a wider global streaming phase, the franchise is set to remain a major part of the evolving entertainment landscape. Its next chapter could help shape how platforms value legacy storytelling in the future.
