Windows 10 users will have more time to keep their devices protected. Microsoft has extended its Extended Security Updates program, allowing eligible users to receive monthly security patches until October 12, 2027.
The extension applies automatically to people already enrolled in the Extended Security Updates program. Users who have not yet joined can still register before the program concludes, provided their computer meets the eligibility requirements.
Who can enroll?
Eligible devices must run Windows 10 version 22H2 in Home, Professional, Pro Education or Workstations editions, with the latest system updates installed. Enrollment also requires signing in with an administrator-level Microsoft account.
Users can check eligibility through Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, where the ESU enrollment option appears for compatible devices. Available enrollment methods include purchasing coverage, using Microsoft Rewards points or activating Windows Backup where offered.
An existing ESU license can be used on up to 10 Windows 10 devices connected to the same Microsoft account. The program focuses exclusively on security updates and does not introduce new features or general operating system improvements.
