Meta Innovates with AI Pendant Development

Meta is set to test a new AI pendant, expanding its wearable technology lineup, aiming to enhance user experience and redefine the future of AI wearables.

Meta is embarking on an exciting journey by developing an AI-powered pendant, with plans to initiate testing within the next year, as outlined in an internal memo.

This innovative device is expected to leverage the advancements from Limitless, an AI device startup that Meta acquired in late 2025. Limitless previously created a pendant that could be worn as a necklace or clipped to clothing, designed to record conversations seamlessly. This acquisition was a strategic move by Meta to enhance its efforts in creating AI-enabled wearables.

While previous attempts at AI wearables have struggled to gain traction among consumers--often due to concerns about privacy and marketing missteps--companies like OpenAI are persistently exploring new possibilities in this space.

The memo also indicates that Meta is looking to broaden its portfolio by introducing a range of AI glasses and launching a subscription service named Wearables for Work. These initiatives are part of Meta's strategy to revitalize its hardware-focused Reality Labs division, which faced significant financial challenges, reporting a loss of $4 billion in the first quarter of this year.

Meta has not yet provided an official comment regarding these developments.
