Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg says the company's AI strategy is moving far beyond customer-service bots. Speaking during the second-quarter earnings call, he outlined a broader enterprise push that could include APIs, business-facing agents, and even direct compute services for large customers.
The first phase of this plan is centered on helping advertisers and small businesses communicate with customers through AI tools inside Meta's messaging ecosystem. Zuckerberg said the model could be built around performance, with Meta earning revenue when those systems deliver measurable results.
He also pointed to a wider opportunity: bringing Meta's internal productivity and coding tools to external clients. According to Zuckerberg, the company is developing these systems for its own teams, but they may eventually become products for both small and large enterprises.
Another part of the strategy involves selling compute capacity, though Zuckerberg stressed that Meta will balance near-term gains with long-term infrastructure needs. He described the approach as a portfolio, noting that the company wants to preserve flexibility as it builds toward more advanced AI experiences.
On the consumer side, Meta is also developing personal AI agents and smart glasses that can interact with the world in real time. At the same time, the company is using large language models to speed up the creation of new social apps and features across its platform.
With enterprise tools, consumer products, and infrastructure all moving in parallel, Meta is positioning AI as a central layer across its ecosystem. The next phase could shape how businesses and users interact with digital services in a more adaptive future.
