Martha Stewart-Backed Hint Brings AI Home Management Into Focus

Home care is getting a digital upgrade with Hint, a new AI startup co-founded by Martha Stewart. The app is designed to help homeowners organize maintenance, track important documents, and better understand the systems that keep a house running smoothly.

Launched as a free iOS app, Hint builds a home profile from address-based public data such as property records, weather, soil, utilities, and environmental details. Users can then add inspection reports, warranties, mortgage papers, insurance files, contracts, and invoices so the built-in assistant can answer questions in one place.

The platform also turns practical home knowledge into action. It can suggest maintenance schedules, remind users about appliance care, and surface useful details like air quality, drainage considerations, or energy-related insights. Homeowners can even upload appliance photos to receive guidance on routine upkeep and simple how-to tasks.

Hint's dashboard adds a home score, giving users a quick snapshot of how well their property is being managed. The assistant can also help with everyday questions about service history, electricity usage, insurance coverage, and whether a repair claim may be worth considering.

Co-founder and CTO Kyle Rush says Stewart is closely involved in product development, offering feedback on design, language, and home-related accuracy. The company says the idea evolved from an earlier focus on decarbonization incentives into a broader vision: an AI layer for the modern home.

Backed by $10 million in funding, Hint uses AI tools from OpenAI and Gemini, with a plan to keep core intelligence free while exploring premium features later. As AI moves from conversation to daily utility, Hint points toward a future where home management becomes more intuitive, personalized, and proactive.
