Lucid Motors is set to release a significant software update for its Gravity SUV, enabling the popular features of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for North American users starting Thursday. The announcement was made on Wednesday, with plans for European and Middle Eastern owners to receive the update by late March.

These phone-mirroring capabilities were already available in the Lucid Air sedan, but the company faced challenges in perfecting the software for the Gravity SUV. This led to a public apology from Lucid's interim CEO to affected owners. In recent months, Lucid Motors has also made strategic changes within its leadership, including the departure of several top software executives and a workforce reduction of 12% as part of its efforts to enhance profitability.

This update coincides with Lucid Motors' investor day in New York City, where the company will discuss its future plans, including a new mid-size electric vehicle platform and the anticipated launch of its luxury robotaxi service in collaboration with Uber and Nuro.

The integration of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is expected to significantly enhance the user experience for Gravity SUV owners, aligning with the rising demand for seamless technology in vehicles. As the automotive industry continues to evolve, this development could pave the way for more innovative features that prioritize connectivity and convenience.
