LEGO Group has teamed up with Vienna's Belvedere Museum to transform Gustav Klimt's iconic The Kiss into a 4,000-piece building set. The release marks the company's largest painting-inspired model to date and brings a new dimension to one of modern art's most recognizable works.
Set to go on sale on August 1 for $299.99, the project reinterprets Klimt's 1907-08 masterpiece as a layered, three-dimensional display piece. Designed for adults 18 and over, the finished model is built with added depth and can also be mounted on a wall.
The collaboration was shaped by Stephanie Auer, curator of 19th- and 20th-century art at the Belvedere, and Milan Madge, LEGO's master model designer. Their goal was to preserve the spirit of Klimt's ornamental language while translating its textures, gold tones, and visual rhythm into bricks.
Unlike standard LEGO sets, this edition includes interactive 3D building guidance through the LEGO Builder app. The final piece measures 60 by 54 centimeters and has a depth of 4 centimeters, making it both a collectible object and a contemporary design statement.
LEGO has previously explored famous artworks through brick-based interpretations, including works tied to major museums. This new release continues that direction by merging art history, design, and hands-on creativity in a format built for display and engagement.
As art and play continue to converge, projects like this could open fresh pathways for how future audiences experience cultural masterpieces.
