Klaviyo has agreed to acquire Agency, the AI-driven customer success startup founded by entrepreneur Elias Torres. The deal terms were not disclosed, while the company had previously raised $32 million from backers including Sequoia, Menlo Ventures, and Felicis.
As part of the acquisition, Torres will join Klaviyo as chief product officer and lead Agency's 25-person team. The move is designed to speed up Klaviyo's AI agent roadmap, including Composer, which creates marketing campaigns, and Customer Agent, which supports post-purchase tasks such as returns and order tracking.
Klaviyo co-founder and CEO Andrew Bialecki said the company plans to combine Agency's product with its own agent tools and scale them across its customer base of 200,000 businesses, with an eye toward reaching far more in the years ahead.
For Torres, the deal marks a notable reunion. He previously co-founded Performable, later acquired by HubSpot, and helped build Drift before its sale to Vista Equity. His history with Bialecki goes back to Performable, where he hired the future Klaviyo founder as one of the startup's first engineers and later brought him into Klaviyo's early fundraising journey.
Klaviyo, which went public in 2023, says its long-running customer data advantage can strengthen its AI offerings in a market that is quickly moving toward intelligent automation. The combination of product experience, data depth, and founder continuity points to a future where AI agents become a standard layer in digital commerce.
