From streaming guide to streaming platform
JustWatch is expanding beyond helping viewers find where films and series are available. The company is launching JustWatch TV, a service featuring content from 30 partners, accessible through its existing website and apps in 12 markets.
Viewers can choose a free, ad-supported tier or JustWatch TV Plus, an ad-free plan priced at $3.99 per month or $49.99 for a lifetime subscription. In the United States, Plus includes more than 300 ad-free titles, along with advanced search filters and options to hide content users have already watched or disliked.
A rental store is initially planned for the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Subscribers will also receive discounts on selected rentals. The service's catalogue focuses mainly on older titles and independent productions, and users can request films and shows they would like to see added.
By bringing content discovery, viewing and audience input together, JustWatch TV could make streaming choices more responsive to what viewers want.
