Intrinsic Robotics Software Integrates with Google for Enhanced AI Development

Google is expanding its reach into the realm of physical AI by integrating a well-known robotics software platform, Intrinsic, into its ecosystem.

Intrinsic, a subsidiary of Alphabet, specializes in creating AI models and software aimed at making industrial robots more user-friendly. The announcement, made on Wednesday, confirmed that while Intrinsic will operate as a separate entity within Google, it will collaborate closely with Google DeepMind and utilize Google's advanced Gemini AI models and cloud infrastructure.

Details regarding the financial aspects of this integration, including funding or acquisition costs, have not been disclosed.

Founded in 2021 as an independent company after five years within Alphabet's X division--known for its innovative research projects--Intrinsic has made significant strides since its inception. Notable graduates from X include Waymo, the self-driving car initiative, and Wing, the drone delivery service.

Wendy Tan White, who has led Intrinsic since its establishment, has overseen a rapid expansion of the company. Shortly after its spinout, Intrinsic acquired Vicarious, another robotics software firm, in April 2022, enhancing its capabilities in the robotics sector. While the specifics of the deal were not revealed, Vicarious had previously secured approximately $250 million in funding from prominent investors.

In a continued effort to strengthen its position, Intrinsic also acquired several divisions from Open Robotics, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing robotics hardware and software.

Despite a challenging landscape that included a workforce reduction of 20% in early 2023, Intrinsic launched its first product, Flowstate, shortly thereafter. This innovative software platform is designed to facilitate the development of robotics workflows, particularly for developers who may lack extensive robotics experience, aligning with the company's mission to democratize access to robotics technology.

Since the launch of Flowstate, Intrinsic has refined its technology, enhancing simulation capabilities and introducing the Intrinsic Vision AI model in late 2025.

In an exciting collaboration announced in October 2025, Intrinsic partnered with Foxconn to develop general-purpose intelligent robots aimed at revolutionizing electronics manufacturing through full automation.

This strategic alignment with Google's AI expertise positions Intrinsic to achieve its ambitious goals. "By leveraging Google's exceptional AI and infrastructure, we aim to unlock the potential of physical AI for a wider range of manufacturing businesses and developers. This will fundamentally transform production, enhancing both economics and operations, and enable truly advanced manufacturing," stated Tan White in a recent blog update.

This partnership is viewed as a crucial step for Google, as industry leaders recognize physical AI as the next significant evolution in the monetization and advancement of AI technologies.
