Instacart Expands Global Reach with Instaleap Acquisition

Instacart's acquisition of Instaleap enhances its international enterprise platform, enabling global expansion and improved services for retailers and consumers.

Instacart has announced its acquisition of the Colombian grocery technology firm Instaleap, marking a significant step in its strategy to enhance its enterprise platform on an international scale. The financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Founded in 2019, Instaleap specializes in global fulfillment solutions, assisting retailers in optimizing and expanding their online operations. The company boasts a diverse client base spanning nearly 30 countries across Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East.

While Instacart is primarily recognized for its grocery delivery services, it has been increasingly investing in retail technology and fulfillment capabilities in recent years. Its commerce platform, Storefront Pro, supports over 380 grocery chains, including major names like Aldi, Costco, Publix, and Sprouts. Additionally, its Carrot Ads platform enables more than 310 retailers to effectively develop and grow their online and in-store advertising initiatives.

This acquisition allows Instacart to extend its reach into international markets without the necessity of establishing a delivery network in those regions, as its delivery services are currently limited to North America.

Initially, Instaleap will function as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Instacart, with plans for the integration of Instacart's enterprise technologies into Instaleap's existing partnerships over time.

Ryan Hamburger, Chief Commercial Officer at Instacart, expressed enthusiasm about this strategic move, stating, "We see a meaningful opportunity to expand internationally through an enterprise-led strategy that empowers retailers across the globe to meet the evolving omnichannel needs of their customers. With the addition of Instaleap's technology, international expertise, and deep retail relationships, we can accelerate our international expansion and better serve retailers and consumers around the world."

Antonio dos Santos Nunes, co-founder and CEO of Instaleap, highlighted the strengths of their platform, saying, "We've built our platform with a deep focus on the unique needs of grocery retailers across diverse international markets. Joining Instacart enables us to scale our impact with the support of a trusted partner that shares our commitment to retailer success."
