inDrive Expands Grocery Delivery with Acquisition of KraveMart in Pakistan

Global ride-hailing leader inDrive, recognized for its innovative bid-based pricing approach, has announced its acquisition of the Pakistani quick-commerce startup Krave Mart. This strategic move aims to enhance its grocery delivery and commerce services across South Asia, as reported by TechCrunch.

The acquisition, finalized as an all-stock deal in 2023, has received the green light from the Competition Commission of Pakistan, allowing both companies to move forward with the transaction. While inDrive has confirmed the acquisition, it has chosen not to disclose specific financial details.

Founded in 2021, KraveMart operates in major cities like Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore, delivering groceries in approximately 30 minutes via a network of dark stores. This acquisition aligns with inDrive's vision to broaden its services beyond ride-hailing, marking a significant step into the grocery delivery sector.

inDrive initially launched its grocery delivery service in Kazakhstan in September 2025 and expanded into Pakistan earlier this year through a partnership with Krave Mart. This collaboration was further solidified with an investment from inDrive in December 2024, aimed at establishing a robust presence in the region.

As part of its ambitious growth strategy, inDrive has set up a venture and mergers-and-acquisitions arm, which plans to invest up to $100 million in startups across emerging markets over the next few years. This initiative is designed to support its evolution into a comprehensive super-app.

Andries Smit, Chief Growth Businesses Officer at inDrive, expressed enthusiasm over the approval from the Competition Commission of Pakistan, stating, "We are excited to work closely with Krave Mart to enhance access to fast and reliable grocery delivery services throughout the nation, with our latest launch in Lahore under the inDrive.Groceries brand." He also confirmed that both Krave Mart and inDrive will continue to operate under their respective brands in Karachi as they expand their offerings.

Despite the challenges posed by a competitive market dominated by established players like Foodpanda, inDrive's extensive reach--operating in over 1,000 cities across 48 countries--positions it well for growth. The company has been recognized as the second-most downloaded ride-hailing app globally since 2022, with over 400 million downloads, and it is the leading ride-hailing service in nine countries, including Pakistan.

As inDrive ventures into grocery delivery, it sets the stage for a transformative shift in how consumers access essential goods, potentially reshaping the grocery landscape in Pakistan and beyond.
