IBM and OpenAI Deepen Enterprise AI Collaboration

IBM has announced a new partnership with OpenAI aimed at bringing advanced AI tools to a wider range of enterprise clients. The collaboration is designed to help large organizations adopt AI more efficiently through IBM's global consulting network.

According to IBM, the two companies will jointly promote AI solutions and build sector-focused applications for areas such as financial services, government, telecommunications, and retail. The agreement also expands IBM's strategy of combining its own Granite models with third-party systems.

As part of the initiative, IBM will create a dedicated OpenAI practice inside IBM Consulting and train tens of thousands of consultants on OpenAI technologies over the coming months. The program will emphasize Codex, APIs, cybersecurity, and solution design, while also developing a team of specialized Forward Deployed Experts.

IBM plans to integrate OpenAI models including GPT-5.6, Codex, and ChatGPT Work into IBM Consulting Advantage, its platform for supporting client deployments across core operations. The move follows IBM's broader push to position itself as an AI integrator for enterprise transformation.

The partnership also reflects OpenAI's growing focus on enterprise growth through consulting and technology alliances. For IBM, it adds another major AI partner as the company continues to expand its consulting-led AI strategy. Looking ahead, such collaborations could shape how businesses adopt intelligent systems at scale.
