Gushwork Leverages AI for Enhanced Customer Acquisition, Secures $9 Million in Funding

Gushwork, an AI startup, secures $9 million in funding to enhance customer acquisition through innovative search tools, aiming for significant growth in the digital marketing landscape.

In a transformative era where AI-driven search tools redefine online business discovery, Gushwork, an innovative startup founded in India, is facilitating the connection between companies and potential customers through platforms like ChatGPT and Perplexity. The startup has recently gained significant traction, attracting investor interest.

On Thursday, Gushwork announced the completion of a $9 million seed funding round led by Susquehanna International Group (SIG) and Lightspeed, with contributions from B Capital, Seaborne Capital, Beenext, Sparrow Capital, and 2.2 Capital. This funding elevates Gushwork's valuation to $33 million, a substantial increase from approximately $7.5 million following its earlier $2.1 million pre-seed round in July 2023, as reported by sources familiar with the situation. Overall, Gushwork has raised a total of $11 million to date.

The recent funding arrives at a time when AI companies, including OpenAI and Perplexity, are disrupting traditional search engines, prompting established players like Google to introduce AI-generated content and conversational features in their search offerings. Gushwork aims to capitalize on this shift by assisting businesses in enhancing their visibility through automated marketing solutions.

Founded in 2023 by Nayrhit Bhattacharya and Adithya Venkatesh, Gushwork initially provided outsourcing solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises. However, as demand surged for improved online visibility, the startup pivoted its focus towards search-oriented marketing strategies.

"Our initial goal was to streamline outsourcing for businesses, but the growing interest in search capabilities from our clients was undeniable," Bhattacharya shared in an interview.

Utilizing a network of AI agents, Gushwork automates the creation and optimization of search content, establishes backlinks through a partnership with 200 to 300 websites, and manages inbound leads via an integrated content management system. This approach empowers businesses to enhance their presence in both conventional search results and AI-generated responses without the need for extensive internal marketing teams.

The startup currently serves over 300 paying customers, predominantly in the U.S., with subscription plans beginning at $800 per month. After launching its AI search-focused product three months ago, Gushwork is on track to achieve an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of approximately $1.5 million, with ambitious goals of reaching $3 million to $3.5 million in the near future.

Notably, around 20% of website traffic among Gushwork's clients is now sourced from AI-driven platforms, contributing to approximately 40% of inbound leads. Bhattacharya noted that these high-intent leads are already yielding significant business results, with some clients experiencing contract closures worth up to $350,000.

As the trend towards AI-driven discovery continues to evolve, Gushwork plans to utilize its new funding to enhance its engineering capabilities, improve model accuracy, and expand its market outreach. With over 800 businesses on its waitlist, the startup is poised for future growth.

Headquartered in Delaware, with an operational base in Bengaluru, Gushwork employs around 70 individuals in India and collaborates with several contractors.
