Google Wallet is expanding a smoother airport experience for Android users enrolled in TSA PreCheck. With the new Touchless ID support, eligible travelers can now move through security without presenting a physical ID or boarding pass at the checkpoint.
A faster digital check-in flow
Touchless ID is designed to streamline screening for PreCheck members by using facial recognition at dedicated lanes. Until now, the feature was mostly tied to select airlines. By bringing it into Google Wallet, the setup becomes more flexible and can be used across many participating carriers after a one-time enrollment.
To activate the feature, travelers first create an ID pass in Google Wallet using a passport. The process includes scanning passport details, reading the security chip, and completing a face verification step. Once a digital boarding pass is added, eligible users can start the Touchless ID enrollment directly from the pass.
After approval, the boarding pass displays a TSA PreCheck Touchless ID indicator, signaling that the traveler can use the streamlined lane where available. The system still depends on airport participation, so access may vary by location.
As digital identity tools continue to evolve, airport screening could become more seamless, setting the stage for a more connected and efficient travel future.
