Google is making file and contact sharing on Android feel more seamless with a new tap-to-share mode for Quick Share. The update lets users bring two compatible devices close together to exchange contact details, photos, videos, and other content with a simple tap.
The feature also works from the Share Sheet, allowing users to start sending media and then complete the transfer by touching devices together. Google describes the experience as an instant, two-way exchange designed to make everyday sharing faster and more intuitive.
The upgrade moves Pixel devices closer to the kind of frictionless sharing long associated with Apple's ecosystem, while keeping the experience within Android. Google says the rollout begins with Pixel 6 and newer models, and will expand soon to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8. Wider device support is expected by the end of the year.
As mobile ecosystems continue to refine proximity-based sharing, features like this could shape a future where moving content between devices feels as natural as a tap.
