Google Photos is expanding its creative toolkit with a new Video Remix feature that can reshape clips in seconds. Powered by Gemini Omni, the tool brings generative AI directly into everyday video editing.
Available in the app's Create tab, Video Remix lets users apply cinematic relighting, replace backgrounds, and transform footage with artistic looks such as watercolor, sketchbook, and oil painting styles. The goal is to make polished video edits accessible without advanced software or technical skills.
Google says the feature is designed to help users turn ordinary moments into more expressive clips with just a few taps. It is rolling out to eligible Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers in selected markets, including the U.S., India, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, and several other countries.
The update also reflects Google's broader strategy of weaving AI deeper into consumer products, following recent enhancements in Google Photos focused on quick touch-ups and creative image tools. As these features mature, everyday media editing may become faster, more intuitive, and increasingly personalized.
In the future, this kind of AI-driven creativity could redefine how people capture, edit, and share personal stories.
