Google is turning Maps into more than a navigation app. The company has added new agentic features to Ask Maps, enabling users to order food, search for hotels, and explore event ticket options directly from the interface.
With the updated experience, a user can type a request such as finding vegan breakfast nearby or locating a well-rated hotel for an upcoming trip. Ask Maps then surfaces relevant choices, compares availability and pricing where possible, and guides the user toward a supported checkout or booking flow.
The food-ordering feature connects with platforms including Square, Toast and Uber Eats, letting users build a cart and complete the purchase through partner services. For travel planning, Ask Maps can also suggest hotels based on preferences such as budget, location and atmosphere, making trip preparation feel more conversational and efficient.
Google is also adding support for personalized responses through Personal Intelligence. When enabled, the feature can use details from Gmail and Google Calendar to answer questions about flights, reservations and nearby recommendations. Google says the option is off by default.
Another update gives Ask Maps memory for earlier conversations, so users can continue planning without repeating the same details. A new live transit widget is also rolling out, helping people track delays and service changes in real time.
Google says these features are now expanding across markets where Ask Maps is available. The move points to a future where maps evolve into intelligent assistants that help people plan, decide and act in one seamless flow.
