Google is expanding AI Mode with a new layer of app connectivity, allowing users to link select services and act on tasks without leaving the conversational search experience. At launch, the supported apps include Instacart, Canva, and YouTube.
The update moves AI Mode beyond answering questions and toward helping users complete everyday actions, from planning meals to organizing creative work. For example, someone building a barbecue shopping list can connect Instacart and send ingredients directly to a cart for checkout. A user preparing a flyer can ask Canva for template ideas, while party playlists can be saved more quickly through YouTube Music.
Google says the rollout is starting in the U.S. and will expand as more partners join the ecosystem. The company is also building on earlier app-linking features introduced in the Gemini app, where third-party services can support faster task handling.
Since its debut in early 2025, AI Mode has steadily gained new functions, including nearby stock checks, side-by-side web exploration, and more personalized responses through access to Gmail and Google Photos. The latest step shows how search is evolving into a more connected digital assistant. In the future, this kind of integration could make AI-driven workflows feel increasingly seamless across daily life.
