Gatik Secures $200 Million to Expand Driverless Middle-Mile Delivery

Autonomous vehicle startup Gatik has secured a fresh $200 million funding round, arriving just two months after it announced a multi-year commercial partnership with PepsiCo. The investment was led by Qatar Investment Authority and Koch Disruptive Technologies, with backing from Millennium Management, ARK Invest and Intact Private Capital.

Based in Santa Clara, California, Gatik has now raised about $500 million since emerging from stealth in 2019. The company did not disclose its valuation, but the new capital signals a stronger push toward large-scale commercial growth.

Unlike many autonomous mobility players focused on robotaxis or long-haul freight, Gatik has built its business around middle-mile delivery. Its driverless box trucks move goods on fixed and dynamic routes for retail and food supply chains, serving customers such as Loblaw, Walmart and PepsiCo.

The company says its third-generation trucks now operate commercially without a safety driver across several markets, running day and night on surface streets and highways and handling light rain and snow. Gatik's largest public deployment is with PepsiCo, where 41 autonomous trucks transport Frito-Lay products from distribution centers to stores in Dallas, Phoenix and Northwest Arkansas.

According to CEO Gautam Narang, the company has already secured $600 million in contracted revenue, and the new funding will help it accelerate hiring, expand operations and enter additional markets. As autonomous logistics matures, Gatik's model suggests a future where short-haul freight becomes faster, more efficient and increasingly scalable.
