Gamma Unveils AI Image Generation Tool to Compete with Canva and Adobe

Gamma, a platform designed for AI-driven presentations and websites, has announced the launch of its innovative image-generation tool aimed at enhancing marketing materials. This move is part of Gamma's strategy to strengthen its position against industry giants like Canva and Adobe.

The new feature, named Gamma Imagine, empowers users to generate brand-specific visuals through text prompts. This includes creating interactive charts, marketing assets, social media graphics, and infographics. Currently, Gamma offers over 100 templates that users can combine with its AI capabilities to produce tailored assets.

To enhance its data-driven design functionalities, Gamma is integrating with various tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Make, Zapier, Atlassian, n8n, and Superhuman Go. This integration allows for a seamless user experience and robust asset generation.

CEO and co-founder Grant Lee shared insights on the development process, stating, "In collaborating with our early users, we recognized the diverse graphical design needs they had for their presentations. This led us to create a new suite of tools that extends beyond traditional formats." He emphasized that Gamma occupies a unique space between professional-grade tools like Adobe and Figma, and conventional options like Microsoft PowerPoint.

Lee further explained, "Our aim is to cater to a broad spectrum of knowledge workers and business professionals who require visual communication tools but lack access to sophisticated design resources. We aspire to offer an AI-native solution that meets their needs in a market that is often overlooked."

Last November, Gamma secured $68 million in a Series B funding round led by a16z, achieving a valuation of $2.1 billion. At that time, the company reported an annual recurring revenue of $100 million and approximately 70 million users. Today, Gamma is nearing the milestone of 100 million users.
