Fireflies Expands Desktop Tools With AI-Powered Dictation

Fireflies launches Talk for Mac and Windows, bringing AI-powered voice dictation, formatted transcription and cross-app productivity to its existing platform.

Fireflies Expands Desktop Tools With AI-Powered Dictation

Fireflies is extending its AI productivity ecosystem beyond meeting notes with a new desktop dictation feature for Mac and Windows. Named Fireflies Talk, the tool enables users to turn spoken ideas into polished text across their everyday workflows.

Voice input across desktop apps

Users can activate Fireflies Talk with a keyboard shortcut--Fn on Mac or Ctrl + Windows on PC--while working in any application. The feature captures speech and places a formatted transcription directly into the active text field, supporting tasks such as drafting emails, writing documents, messaging colleagues and creating AI prompts.

The company's approach reflects a growing shift toward voice-first productivity. Speaking can be substantially faster than typing for many users, while AI formatting helps transform natural speech into clearer written communication.

Built into the existing Fireflies experience

Rather than introducing a separate purchase, Fireflies has included dictation within its current subscription plans. The company says it does not retain voice recordings, while dictation transcripts are stored locally on the user's device.

Fireflies has steadily broadened its platform from meeting transcription toward wider workplace assistance. Its previous releases include mini-apps designed to surface insights from conversations, alongside email tools that help organize inboxes and prepare message drafts.

With Fireflies Talk, the platform moves closer to an always-available AI teammate that can support work wherever text is created. Voice-driven interfaces could increasingly make digital work more fluid, accessible and efficient across devices.
