Felicia Chiao transforms ordinary interiors into imaginative scenes where daily routines, memory, and emotion overlap. In her drawings, stacked chairs, layered clocks, books, dishes, and curious characters create a visual language that feels both intimate and surreal.
Known for her warm, expressive style, Chiao works with pencil, ink, and watercolor to explore the subtle structures of mental life through domestic settings. Her compositions often bloom with flowers, soft color, and symbolic details, giving familiar spaces a poetic sense of movement and reflection.
Her recent work also includes a growing series inspired by Lunar New Year, where each year's animal appears against rich crimson and gold backdrops. These pieces extend her interest in tradition, seasonality, and visual storytelling while keeping her signature balance of playfulness and restraint.
Chiao continues to expand her practice through mixed media, influenced in part by a collaboration with Heath Ceramics. She has also been experimenting with customized frame mats, turning even presentation into part of the artwork's identity. A solo exhibition with Harman Projects is scheduled for October, alongside additional shows in the years ahead.
With each new piece, Chiao shows how illustration can translate emotion into form and make everyday life feel newly seen. Her evolving practice suggests a future where personal storytelling and visual art remain deeply connected.
