Feedly, one of the world's largest standalone RSS readers, has confirmed that a recent weeklong slowdown in its web app was caused by a bug, not by its growing focus on AI-powered intelligence tools. The company said the issue affected both free and paying users, making feed browsing noticeably slower than usual.
According to Feedly CEO Edwin Khodabakchian, the slowdown was linked to the "Mark as Read" function on accounts with large numbers of folders. The team released a fix on Friday and is now checking whether performance has fully returned to normal for all users.
Feedly also addressed reports about its mobile products. The company said the older Feedly Classic app was retired two weeks ago because it no longer met current iOS and Android requirements. Khodabakchian noted that the app had only a small active user base at the time of shutdown.
On the main mobile experience, Feedly said it remains committed to its iOS and Android apps and will investigate reports that some iPhone users could not load the app. The company emphasized that RSS remains important, especially for users who rely on Feedly's news-reading features alongside its cyber threat intelligence services.
