Fairphone, the Dutch brand built around sustainability and long-term device use, has introduced its latest model, the Fairphone 6+, in the United States with a starting price of $649.
This marks the first direct U.S. launch for the company's phones without any special software modifications. At launch, the device is set to work with T-Mobile and AT&T, expanding access to a repair-focused smartphone in a market dominated by fast replacement cycles.
The Fairphone 6+ is positioned as a midrange Android phone, but its appeal lies in durability and serviceability. It features Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip, 12GB of RAM, a 4,415 mAh battery with 30W fast charging, and a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
For photography, the phone includes a 50-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 32-megapixel front camera. More importantly, Fairphone says the device is designed around 12 replaceable parts, including the battery, cameras, USB-C port, and display, all swappable with a single screwdriver.
The company also backs the phone with five years of warranty and software support through 2033. Fairphone says its manufacturing approach is built to lower environmental impact, with the Fairphone 6+ produced at a carbon footprint of 30 kg of CO2e per device.
Available in Forest Green, Horizon Black, and Cobalt Blue, the phone also supports modular accessories such as a finger loop, lanyard, and card holder. As repairable design gains momentum, devices like this could help shape a more circular and longer-lasting future for consumer tech.
