Facebook is giving users a more direct say in what appears in their feeds. Meta has introduced Your Algorithm, an AI-powered feature that lets people customize recommendations in Feed and Reels by describing their interests in everyday language.
Users can ask to see more or less of particular topics, with changes reflected in recommendations in real time. They can also open the three-dot menu on a post and choose "Interested" or "Not interested," or access the new tool to adjust preferences. Meta says follow-up questions may help clarify what users want.
The feature extends Meta's personalization efforts across its platforms, following its launch on Instagram and a related tool on Threads. It reflects a broader shift toward recommendation systems that invite users to guide what they encounter, rather than relying solely on automated decisions.
As these controls evolve, they could make social feeds more responsive to individual preferences while giving users a clearer role in shaping their digital experience.
