In collaboration with Art Bridges, the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey proudly presents In Conversation: Will Wilson, running in the Main Gallery until August 23, 2026. This exhibition showcases the contemporary photography of Diné (Navajo) artist Will Wilson alongside historic images captured by Edward Sheriff Curtis.
Wilson's artistic approach critically examines the representation of Native peoples throughout history. By employing modern photographic techniques and digital media, he engages with Curtis's seminal work The North American Indian (1907-1930). This interaction prompts viewers to contemplate themes of identity, visibility, and the authority behind the images we encounter. In Conversation serves as a reflective dialogue between historical and contemporary perspectives, highlighting photography's significant role in forming cultural narratives.
Complementing this exhibition, the Visual Arts Center will also feature Present and Growing, a solo exhibition by Gabriel Garcia Roman, in the Mitzi and Warren Eisenberg Gallery. Additionally, With Passing Years, showcasing works by Chrystofer Davis, will be displayed in the Marité and Joe Robinson Strolling Gallery I through June 7, 2026.
