Google has recently introduced three innovative features powered by Gemini for Google TV, enhancing the user experience with AI-driven functionalities. These updates, announced on Tuesday, include visual responses, deep dives into various topics, and narrated summaries of sports events.
One standout feature is the visual responses, which allow users to receive real-time information in a visually engaging format. For instance, asking for the current score of a Warriors game will yield live scorecards and details on where to watch the match. Additionally, users can explore recipes, with Gemini providing relevant video tutorials as part of the response.
Another exciting addition is the "deep dive" feature, showcased at CES 2026. This function enables users to explore complex subjects in depth. When prompted, Gemini offers narrated visual breakdowns on diverse topics, ranging from health and wellness to economics and technology. For example, users can inquire about the effects of cold plunging and receive a comprehensive overview.
To access these deep dives, users can simply select "Dive deeper" from the response options or navigate to the Gemini tab on the home screen and choose the "Learn" option.
For sports enthusiasts, Gemini has rolled out "sports briefs," allowing fans to stay updated on their favorite leagues without watching every live moment. Users can request timely narrated overviews of events in leagues such as the NBA, NHL, and MLB, making it easy to catch up on highlights and key updates. This feature follows the introduction of "news briefs" last year, which aimed to keep viewers informed about the latest headlines.
The rollout of these features is currently underway in the U.S. and Canada, with plans to expand Gemini's capabilities to Australia, New Zealand, and the UK this spring, followed by additional countries.
Originally launched in September 2025, Gemini has evolved significantly, now supporting a wider range of devices and offering multiple updates. Users can adjust settings using natural language commands, such as correcting dim screens or audio issues, making it more efficient than navigating through traditional menus. Voice search capabilities for Google Photos and the application of AI styles and effects have also been integrated.
