The Emmy Awards will begin a new chapter in 2027 as Prime Video becomes the ceremony's dedicated global streaming home.
Under a six-year agreement announced by Amazon, the awards will be streamed live and free on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories. Viewers will be able to access the event through the platform, including those without an Amazon Prime membership.
The move marks the first time in the Emmys' seven-decade history that the ceremony will have a single long-term distribution partner. Previously, the broadcast rotated among major US television networks including ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC.
By shifting to a global streaming platform, the Emmys will gain a broader international stage for celebrating television's most influential creative work. The format also reflects the entertainment industry's growing focus on digital-first viewing experiences and worldwide audience access.
This transition could help redefine how major cultural events are experienced, making live awards programming more accessible to audiences across borders and devices.
