Deezer is developing a setting that will let listeners exclude AI-generated music from their streaming experience. The company expects to make the feature available before the end of the year.
When enabled, the filter will remove AI-made tracks, albums and related artists from search results, giving users more control over what they discover and hear.
Deezer says the option responds to clear listener interest: a company-cited survey found that around 45% of its customers wanted a way to remove AI music from their feeds. The platform has also introduced tools to identify AI-generated tracks. In July, it reported that these songs accounted for more than half of daily uploads, averaging about 90,000 tracks per day.
The new setting will offer a choice rather than change the experience for everyone. As AI-made music becomes more common, user controls like this could help streaming platforms balance new forms of creation with listeners' preferences.
