In a recent incident at Haidilao, a popular hot pot restaurant in Cupertino, California, a humanoid robot known for its dancing skills became a bit too lively. The robot, which was brought closer to a dining table at a guest's request, began to flail its arms and inadvertently knocked over plates and utensils, prompting restaurant staff to step in and regain control.

According to a video shared on the Chinese social network Xiaohongshu, the entertaining performance quickly turned chaotic as three employees struggled to restrain the energetic robot. One staff member appeared to be attempting to use a mobile app to manage the robot's movements, suggesting that it might have had a control mechanism that was not properly utilized at the moment.

This particular robot is believed to be the AgiBot X2, showcased at the CES conference earlier this year. While the restaurant confirmed the incident, they clarified that the robot was not malfunctioning but rather operating outside its usual parameters due to the confined space.

Hot pot dining is characterized by communal cooking in boiling broth, and the thought of a robot accidentally spilling hot soup is a serious concern. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the incident highlights the delicate balance of integrating robotics into the food service industry.
