Loewe has solidified its reputation for innovative collaborations with contemporary artists, even after the departure of creative director Jonathan Anderson to Dior. The brand's latest showcase at Paris Fashion Week for the Fall/Winter 2026 collection emphasized this commitment, featuring the distinctive work of sculptor Cosima von Bonin.

Her creations included whimsical plush whales, clams, crabs, and other marine life, elegantly displayed on low pedestals among the audience, which featured notable personalities such as rapper Lil Yachty and actress Anna Wintour. This artistic integration not only added a unique flair to the runway but also highlighted the playful spirit that Loewe embodies.

In addition to the sea creatures, von Bonin introduced a series of dog sculptures titled "The Beaux," reminiscent of her previous exhibition "Songs for Gay Dogs" at Mudam in Luxembourg. Born in Kenya and currently residing in Germany, von Bonin is renowned for her captivating marine-themed sculptures. Her work was prominently featured in the 2022 Venice Biennale, where she showcased plastic sculptures of sharks and fish, humorously adorned with electric guitars.

Von Bonin's artistic philosophy often shuns explicit explanations of her work. In a past interview, she stated, "First of all, I never explain my work," emphasizing the importance of personal interpretation. Art critic Jason Farago noted her 2016 exhibition at SculptureCenter, describing it as a mix of humor and depth, where maritime themes playfully intersect with cultural references.

Designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez expressed their admiration for von Bonin, stating, "Humor, levity, and a bright, inclusive spirit--qualities we recognize as intrinsic to Loewe's Spanish heritage--led us to the work of Cosima von Bonin." They believe her creations resonate with the ideas they aim to convey through their collection.

This collaboration not only showcases von Bonin's artistic vision but also reinforces Loewe's dedication to merging fashion with contemporary art, creating a vibrant dialogue that captivates audiences and enriches the cultural landscape.
