Capital F closes its $17 million debut fund to invest in women-centered startups across health, commerce, and AI, expanding access to capital and innovation.

Capital F Raises $17 Million to Back Women-Centered Innovation

Venture capital firm Capital F has completed the close of its debut fund at $17 million, marking a fresh step for investing focused on the "female economy" -- markets shaped by women's demand and decision-making.

Focus Areas

The firm is targeting early-stage companies across three main themes: women's health, digital commerce, and AI-powered tools. Co-founder Margaret Coblentz says these sectors reflect both market opportunity and the growing need for technology that better serves women's lives and work.

Capital F was founded by Margaret Coblentz and Dawn Dobras, two executives who spent decades leading companies before moving into venture investing. Their experience spans retail, beauty, and consumer brands, and both say their decision to launch the firm came from seeing how few women reached the top levels of business and investing.

Building a Wider Investor Base

During the fundraising process, the founders hosted events across the U.S. to introduce more women to venture capital. That effort helped shape a fund where nearly 80% of limited partners are women, including experienced operators and investors from consumer and retail backgrounds.

The firm has already backed 13 companies, with investments ranging from $250,000 to $1 million. Its portfolio includes telemedicine startup Hey Jane, hormone-tracking platform Stardust, and Steller Sleep, which was acquired by Google last year. Capital F also supports companies such as Malama, which provides doula support for Medicaid users.

Looking ahead, the fund plans to deploy its capital through 2027, while continuing to connect founders with its network of investors and advisors. The rise of funds like Capital F suggests a future where more capital flows into products built around real-life needs and broader representation.
