Apple is preparing a five-product launch featuring an OLED iPad mini, refreshed M6 Macs and its first touchscreen MacBook Pro, with OLED screens and upgraded chips.

Apple's New Lineup Pairs an OLED iPad mini with Its First Touchscreen MacBook Pro

Apple is preparing a Friday launch spanning five new products, including updated Macs and an iPad mini with an OLED display. The lineup combines faster processors with new screen technology, while the touchscreen MacBook Pro marks a major change to the company's laptop range.

OLED comes to iPad mini

The updated iPad mini is Apple's first model in the series to use an OLED display. Because its pixels can switch off individually, the screen can deliver deeper blacks and stronger contrast. The tablet is also thinner and lighter, and uses Apple's A20 Pro chip.

Pricing starts at $699 for 128GB of storage. Nano-texture glass and cellular connectivity are available as paid upgrades.

M6 updates for iMac and MacBook Pro

The new iMac retains its 24-inch LED display and familiar design, but gains Apple's M6 chip, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. It starts at $1,499, with memory, storage and port options varying by configuration.

A refreshed 14-inch MacBook Pro also features the M6 processor. Apple says it can deliver up to 13 times faster AI processing than the M1 version. The laptop keeps its 14-inch mini-LED display, with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and starts at $1,999.

Touchscreen MacBook Pro debuts

The biggest change is the first touchscreen MacBook Pro, offered in 14- and 16-inch sizes. The display supports gestures such as scrolling, zooming and drawing, as well as touch-based tasks in creative software. Both sizes use OLED panels, which Apple calls PROLED XDR, and feature the Dynamic Island in place of the familiar display notch.

These models are configured with M5 Pro or M5 Max chips. Apple says they can provide up to 13 additional hours of battery life compared with Intel-based MacBook Pro models and charge to 50% in 30 minutes. Prices start at $2,899 for the 14-inch model and $3,399 for the 16-inch version.

Together, the launch signals a wider move toward touch-enabled computing and more capable displays across Apple's devices.
