Apple has confirmed the release date for iOS 27: the update will arrive on Monday, Sept. 14. The announcement was quietly included in the company's newsroom posts following its September product event, where Apple introduced the iPhone 18 Pro, Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, AirPods 5, and the foldable iPhone Duo.
The timing fits Apple's product cycle. The iPhone 18 Pro is scheduled to ship on Friday, Sept. 18, and will run iOS 27 out of the box. Developers have been testing the software since June, while the public beta opened a month later, giving users early access to features such as Siri AI, new image editing tools, and dual-capture support in FaceTime.
Apple also confirmed that watchOS 27 will launch on the same day. Other platform updates, including macOS 27 Golden Gate and iPadOS 27, have not yet received a formal date, though they are widely expected to follow a similar rollout pattern.
Which iPhones will support iOS 27?
Apple's compatibility list stretches back to the iPhone 11 lineup and includes iPhone SE models from the second generation onward. Newer devices such as the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 17 series, iPhone Air, and iPhone 16 family are also supported.
Not every feature will be available on every model. Apple Intelligence, including Siri AI, is limited to iPhone 15 Pro and later. Some advanced AI tools, such as Siri voice customization, require iPhone 17 Pro or newer, including iPhone Air. With this release, Apple is pairing broad device support with a more selective feature set, shaping a software experience that could define the next phase of mobile intelligence.
